The Department of Defense has announced a $14.3 million grant for production of Solid Rocket Motors.

The Department of Defense has announced a $14.3 million grant to Anduril Industries, Inc., located in California, on January 7th, 2025.  Anduril produces various materials, including rocket motors. Rocket motors are used in various ways, such as space and defense operations ( northropgrumman.com )  This funding is in addition to Anduril's significant private investment of $75 million to enhance domestic defense production. Dr. Laura Taylor-Kale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, stated that this funding will help increase production at Anduril's facility for the manufacturing, and testing of solid rocket motor (SRM) systems. This initiative is expected to strengthen and enhance domestic production for U.S. defense systems. New York City; the Rise in Crime in Central Park

Central Park in New York is a large green space, with beautiful scenery, trees, a pond, large open sidewalks, and large grassy areas for picnicking and relaxing. But in the past year, it has also seen a large jump in crime.  "Year-to-date robbery incidents, for example, have increased by 200%, from 10 in 2023 to 30 in 2024. Major crimes are up 46% in the park compared to 2023. Felony assault is also up – from 7 incidents to 10 – but misdemeanor assault and petit larceny are down significantly, about 22% and 19% respectively. Two rapes have been reported in the park so far this year, according to NYPD data.There have been no murders in the park in 2024, nor were there any last year." According to patch.com. Ongoing California wildfires; Mayor Bass criticized for lack of leadership

  Ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles have not yet been brought under control, prompting city officials to reiterate urgent evacuation orders for residents on Thursday. Currently, there are 5 separate ongoing wildfires in the vacinity of L.A. (map below) They include the Palisades Fire, Hurst Fire, Lidia Fire, Eaton Fire and Sunset Fire. During a press conference, Mayor Karen Bass emphasized the gravity of the situation. The police reported the arrest of 20 individuals for looting and burglary in areas where evacuations are underway, with more apprehensions anticipated.
