Florida man had plans to blow up the New York Stock Exchange Building.
Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, a Florida man, was arrested for attempting to blow up the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as part of his misguided goal to "reboot" the U.S. government.
Born in 1994, Yener's criminal case was handled in the Southern District of Florida, where he faced serious charges related to explosives. The FBI initiated their investigation after receiving a tip about Yener's activities and findings led to alarming discoveries in his storage unit.

According to NewsMax, the FBI's investigation began in February after they received a tip-off regarding Yener's possession of bomb-making schematics. By March, a search of his storage unit revealed sketches, timers, and electronic components that could be used for building explosive devices. These findings raised significant concerns about Yener's intentions and his ability to carry out an attack on a prominent target like the NYSE.
Yener's Motivations and Plans for the Attack
Yener allegedly planned the attack date for November 18th, believing that detonating an explosive device would communicate his anti-government sentiments. Reportedly, he expressed feelings of kinship with infamous figures like Osama bin Laden, promoting actions against government entities, which he viewed as a war. His radical statements and intentions contributed to a chilling view of his mindset leading up to the planned attack.
According to NewsMax, "Yener was described in the complaint as "unhoused" and having a history of making violent threats. A former supervisor at a Coconut Creek, Florida, restaurant where Yener worked, told law enforcement Yener was fired in July 2023 after threatening to bring guns to the restaurant and target his co-workers because he believed they stole his money.
Yener allegedly told his co-workers, "I'm about to go Parkland shooter in this place," referring to the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School."

In September, the FBI placed Yener in contact with an undercover agent, posing as a militia member. During their interactions, Yener outlined his intentions for the NYSE attack, including his plans to wear a disguise while deploying the device. Yener's previous behavior includes a concerning history of making violent threats, including a chilling remark about becoming a shooter at his workplace.
